The role of the GSP Product specialist

The primary responsibility of the role is selling the full range of General Surgical Products (GSP) in the region of west Sweden – including Västra Götaland, Jönköpings län, Värmland and Örebro – in a professional manner to hospitals and related healthcare professionals as well as for the management of quality and consistency of product and service delivery.

You will cooperate and coordinate activities with SPS team and Surgical Innovation Team in the territory to maximize the surgical business opportunities by building strong ethical business relationships with customers to ensure usage of our products and gain greater market share.

 

Your three main areas for business will be:

Customer Management – achieving agreed budgets, focusing on sales growth and optimizing tender management in your region. Customer management also involves presenting and selling GSP products and services to current and potential clients as well as supporting and advising physicians on the correct use of Medtronic devices. You will work in the hospital theatre environment, helping surgeons and theatre personnel using the GSP products in an optimal way.

Business Development – identify sales prospects and lead with economic selling activities in the territory, leverage overall GSP portfolio, focus on account penetration, and initiate broader purchasing agreement and account conversion when required. It is important you are comfortable with “carpeted floor”-stakeholders (e.g. Purchasing Managers/ Hospitals Managers) for the territory to maximize business opportunities and that you maintain close contact with the Surgical/Clinical Specialists to ensure our products usage. Business development also involves maintaining customer knowledge by gathering information about account activities and potential, key decision makers, competitive participation, market share etc.

Support & Training – Demonstrate effective use of all sales tools and materials provided to identify and develop real prospects to ensure sales targets are achieved.   Also communicate new product and service opportunities, special developments, information, or feedback gathered through field activity to appropriate company staff.  Support & Training is also needed to coordinate company staff to accomplish the work required to close sales as well as when educating and training Logistic Managers/ Purchasing Managers and other Hospital Staff. The GSP Product specialist should be able to provide verbal technical support and organize regular in-services and to assist in National/International training requirements.

 

To be successful as a GSP Product Specialist you have

  • Proven ability in Sales and in growing a business generally.
  • A demonstrated track record in sales (2+ years), preferably in the surgical industry
  • The ability to move in an Operating Room session and be familiar with specific requirements in the OR.
  • A sales driven, business mind with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • The ability to listen to colleagues of different levels with an ability to understand and to execute plans.
  • The mindset of a service-oriented team player concerned with helping people, both internally and externally.

 

We think that you are someone with advanced presentation and negotiation skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, all necessary to establish good working relationships with a wide range of customers. It is also important that you can work independently with a high level of time management skills.

It is essential that you speak Swedish and English fluently as well as that you have a full, and clean, driver’s license.

 

The position is field-based, but in the Gothenburg area for the ability to service accounts effectively, and will report to the Regional Sales Manager, Surgical Innovations.
